Poem: 'Sing Me To Death' by Laura Petellat

Sing Me To Death

Voice like satin,
Singing me to death.
You wrap yourself around my heart.
Like daggers piercing flesh,
There are no words for this pain.

Sweet words from silver tongues
Burn like fire.
Such a painful serenade of lies,
You hummed to every word.
A swooning, shaking form
I heaped upon the floor
For this broken heart,
Lead to weakened knees.

I kissed the floor
Unceremoniously
I awoke to a sky
I never wanted to see again.
A soul pulled to pieces
By a simple look,
A gesture,
And a painful sigh.
